Students may obtain licensure packets for other states by contacting the Department of Education in that state and requesting an "Out of State" licensure packet be sent.

Students planning to teach in the State of Wisconsin ~

You will need to have 18 weeks of student teaching [Fall + Jterm OR Spring + Jterm]

Elementary and Social Studies 7-12 teachers will need to have completed "coursework" regarding native americans from Wisconsin. Please consult with the Education Department regarding possible methods to incorporate this requirement during your studies at Luther.

Students planning on being licensed in multiple endorsements may need to also student teach during one or more J-terms.

Students pursuing ESL licensure should be aware that the State of Minnesota has additional requirements.

Students pursuing Elementary Licensure must student teach in Kindergarten if they wish to be licensed K - 6. They must also take Education 330: Introduction to Early Childhood.

Students pursuing Elementary or Secondary licensure are advised to Education 332 and 333 Middle School Learner and Middle School Methods to meet MN division of developmental levels.

Students pursuing Secondary English have additional course requirements including a Media Literacy course and Public Address.

Students planning to go to the State of Minnesota ~

Students with a major in a social science should be aware that you will need a major in a social science + coursework in each of the following seven disciplines: Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, History, Political Science, and Geography.

Students with an Elementary Major and a Middle School Endorsement must have a concentration in either Science, Language Arts, Social Studies or Math. Their Middle School Endorsement is content specific.
